FAQ

Trigger Air can offer advice and guidance on your future drone projects, as CAA qualified operators we are happy to assist.

Frequently Asked Questions

We've listed some frequently asked questions below, but if you can't find what you are looking for, don't hesitate to get in touch.

How much do Trigger Air services cost?

Every project is different so we provide a personalised quote for each job but it can be from as little as £200.  Contact us for a detailed quote.

When are we available to work?

Having time to plan a shoot is the best option but due to the nature of our work we are often available on a 'last minute' basis.

We are required to complete pre-flight risk assessments to ensure we will be working safely and within CAA regulations so any extra time we have to prepare will be advantageous. In some circumstances we may need to seek additional permissions from the CAA and this can take up to 28 days.

Is Trigger Air qualified to work commercially?

Yes, we have been granted 'Permissions for Aerial Work' (PfAW) by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in UK to work commercially within their regulations. In conjunction with this we have full certification with RPQ-s for flying competence with remotely piloted aircraft systems.

Is Trigger Air insured?

Trigger Air have Public Liability insurance of £5 million. It is a legal requirement for all commercial operators to have this cover. Always ask to see an operators CAA qualification and insurance documents and if they cannot provide them, don't use them!

How far and where can we fly?

We can legally fly 500m in a radial distance and 400ft vertically whilst maintaining full line of sight with our aircraft. With the correct safety procedures we can fly in most locations.

What do we fly?

Custom designed by our build specialists, the Aeronavics Skyjib X4 with Movi M5. Aeronavics Skyjib Y6 and DJI Phantom 3 Pro. Lumix 4K GH4 and Sony A7R 36MP. HD downlink.

Why would I want a drone instead of a Helicopter?

Helicopters have been the traditional method for aerial film and photography but they're big, noisy, expensive, create a lot of downdraft and typically cannot fly below 500ft.

Our drones can get up close for inspection work, or can work from a distance for the broader shot. They can be deployed rapidly at almost any location multiple times throughout the day and they are a flexible and cost effective alternative to larger aircraft.

How many people are involved in operating a drone?

We normally operate with a fully qualified pilot plus a camera operator as recommended by the CAA. This allows our pilot to focus on flying safely while our camera operator focuses on framing the best shot.

What weather conditions can we fly in?

Rain and wind are not our best friends but our Skyjibs are designed to cope with more adverse weather conditions. This allows us to produce rock steady smooth video whenever we fly. Safety is the greatest priority to us, so monitoring weather conditions prior to a flight is vital.

I still haven't had my question answered...

Don't hesitate to get in touch, it would be great to have a chat about your next project or queries about flying drones safely.
